Daibutsu at Sunset

Ok, I promise, the last one! I went back with a different perspective and worked a bit harder. I removed all the trees, and the surrounding hills. I also upped the saturation. It still looks 'wrong' because the light is off and there are no shadows, but I have to say it looks undeniably cool.

@{H} creatives: Thanks! Its something I should get into more, so often my pictures here are lessened by the boring white overcast sky. That can be good for certain subjects, but for landscapes and such it just plain stinks.

Very beautiful shot. I love that you have the people around it, shows the impressiveness of the statue's size in comparison. The sky behind really makes it stand out as well.

@Julia: This statue is in Kamakura, a seaside resort (and past capital of Japan) about an hour south of Tokyo. Fantastically enough the statue USED to be indoors, until a tsunami destroyed the hall and left the giant bronze Buddha.

Of the 3?.. I prefer this one. It has a drama the others don't. That sky gives the buddha an intense... aura, I think. Great experimenting!!
